APRIL HIKES IN NAPA COUNTY'S LAKE DISTRICT

Spring is the premier season for hiking in Napa County's Lake District, so there are lots of hikes this month. Spectacular views of Lake Berryessa, wildflowers, the Blue Ridge, or the newly public Zim Zim falls - take your pick. Links to more info can be found on our hiking page at http://www.berryessatrails.org/hikes.htm

Where is the Lake District?

April 15 - New hike added - hike the
Stebbins Cold Canyon Loop Trail to the Blue Ridge!

This is a hike that is rugged and steep, but the terrific views of the Narrows of Lake Berryessa are well worth it. The hike starts in Solano County just past Monticello Dam, but when the top of Blue Ridge is reached you are on the Napa County border. That's "Photo Opportunity Rock" to the left.

April 8 - take a wildflower hike with the Land Trust of Napa County in Snell Valley

April 9 - another opportunity to hike to Zim Zim falls, this time with the Capay Valley hiking club from Yolo County. Email Sam (sbledsoe@gmail.com) to arrange a time to meet those coming from Yolo county at the Pope Creek bridge.

April 9 - make the big climb to Blue Ridge in the Knoxville Wildlife Area with the Land Trust of Napa County. From a beautiful valley climb right up to Blue Ridge for spectacular views.

April 22 - kayak across Pope Creek and then head up into Cedar Roughs, a parcel of land owned by the federal Bureau of Land Management that has been proposed for Wilderness designation.

April 23 - hike to Sensitive Plant Canyon in the Knoxville Recreation Area. To the left is a serpentine barren, which hosts only those hardy plants that can survive in its harsh soil.
